IN THIS STUDY, we are primarily seeking to learn about the population size and distribution of black bears in Massachusetts. We are looking to accumulate more data to better understand where bears are concentrated in the state, as well as how the population changes throughout the area and interacts with urban environments. We are collecting data in a number of ways. One way is through the hair corrals described below. You can also contribute essential information to our project by reporting sightings on this website. If you would be interested in volunteering to collect further information that would augment this study, please contact us.
Want to get involved even more? Learn more about our citizen/community science sister project dedicated to investigating the population density of more mammals across Massachusetts, MassMammals Watch.
